Prompt 3-Name Acrostic

Prompt 3 was to use your name as an acrostic to tell a bit about yourself ... okay go!

Cheerful is the glass half full side of me. Always trying to stay positive and make light of negative situations.

Careful is what I am with my emotions. Maybe the years of emotional turmoil has turned me into the other extreme ... too scared to let go so really careful all the time.

Open minded-love new experiences, new places, trying something new. Teaching the kids to accept the diversity of the world we live in.

Overachiever is a bad thing. I work too hard on the job and in life. Set your sights too high and the only way to go is down. Disappointment and frustration prevails. People tell me I'm too hard on myself, when will I learn to let go?

N equals nice. Funny quote I saw the other day ... she's nice once you get to know her really means she's a bitch if you don't. Hmmmmmm. No comment.

N is for neat freak. Okay so I hate clutter!

N is also for noodle lover. Kaila helped me pick this one out. Mom, you always say how you could eat noodle dishes forever. Bring it on pasta, pho, udon, ramen, pad thai!

I is imaginative. I like being creative and thinking anything's possible.

I is also insensitive. The practical can-do overachiever in me is going too fast to stop and CARE. I also think that my defense mechanism of not crying too much over spilled milk makes me think the whole world should just suck it up. But that's not reality and that's insensitive. Need to stop and notice and care cuz that's really the nice thing to do. Plus I stand to gain by truly connecting with people, isn't that what life's all about?

We're now at E for eclectic. I really love so many different things. Modern, country, classic, vintage, crafty, beachy ... and worldly. Want to travel all over and discover even more eclecticism (is that a word?).

And finally, E is for emotional. Despite some of the prior descriptors above, inside I 'm still pretty emotional. I pretend to not be so I can be strong ... funny how some of our past experiences shape who we are. Being strong means not risking being hurt. But is that true reality? Life will hurt and life will bring joy, gotta have one with the other.

Prompt 2-Create Goals

Prompt 2 was to create 3-5 tangible goals for this journal challenge. I recently picked up a book called Loving What Is by Byron Katie. At first I thought it was about simplicity and learning to live with less and just loving what is. Boy was I wrong! It's a psychology book about accepting true reality and reprogramming our thoughts to find peace with it. Funny how God puts things in our path just when needed ... I've been thinking lately about my frustrations and trying to figure out what to do about it.

Now I'm looking forward to journaling, discovering what my limiting thoughts are, rediscovering true reality and accepting IT rather than seeking acceptance from others. Living with "shoulds" for myself or imposing my "shoulds" on how others behave is only hurting me. This is a good sign from God and I am grateful.

Prompt 1-Create an introduction title page

The first prompt was to create an introduction page about yourself or about the challenge. I opted to do a combination. I also opted to do all of my journaling virtually here on the blog. Playing with my new iphone app Label Box was easy. Loooove iiiit!!

The 30 Day Journal Challenge

I'm a little late to the gate but this seems like fun ... quick way to scrapbook since summer seems too busy with the kids to really get out all my stuff.

Challenge idea came from here. Anyone care to join me?

Summertime is pooltime!

My oldest started her love of water as a baby just a few months old ... following daddy to the beach for surf.

Kainani has to love water because her name means "beautiful ocean".

And Lena loves to follow her sisters everywhere ... but she's still learning to love it as she learns to swim.

A few weekends ago we kicked off summer with time at the pool with our friends over. Lena and her friend Neveah spent fun times together this year as Daisies. More play dates to come for sure.

Nani spent as much time as possible with Sammy before she moved away to Colorado.

And Ally is the sister they've always had ... she lives next door and Nani's always saying "I see Ally 7 days a week mom!"

All smiles as the weather was perfect and there was so much fun to be had playing games and splashing around.

First was a race to get caught by the person who's it. Kaila gets ready to jump in and chase the others before they reach the other side of the pool.

Go get 'em Kaila!!!

Ally makes it to the other side and splashes water in a "you can't catch me" fashion. Haha.

Then it was time for chicken fighting. Really funny to watch the bigger girls being held up by the smaller girls. Good thing water makes you weigh less. LOL.

I'm gonna get you Kaila!!!

And then the winners rejoice! What was the best was how well these girls all got along and played so well together. They were so loving and it was so sweet.

Bye for now ... but not for long as we make our way back to the pool again and again at least several times a week. Hope you are all enjoying your summer too!!!

Winning Scrap Stuff Equals I NEED to Scrap!

The box came a month or so ago and I can't believe I just opened it now. With Girl Scout cookie sales, end of school year activities, family weekends and a busy work schedule life just didn't leave time for "fun" stuff.

But check out this whole stash. I love it all!!! It's so girly and pretty.

Glitter on the paper? OMG, now I don't have to stickle. Love it!!!

Gotta love the borders ... so much fun! And cute stickers too? Wow!!!

I'm so lucky to have won this great Doodlebug Designs pack from Elizabeth, a favorite blogger of mine. I love her scrap style ... it's simple but embellished at the same time and I think the craftiness is so perfect ... not over the top artsy since I just can't do "messy art style" with my A-type banker self.

I won Jennie Claire jewelry!

I know I haven't blogged in awhile. Just haven't found time to scrap or sit at my computer lately. I have, however, been keeping up with my blogs in my google reader.

And ... it pays off with a prize ... Jennie Claire jewelry. I have a new fashion blogger to thank for this ... Fabulously Average. Joanne says she is an East Coast girl in living on the West Coast and I love her casual, classic and trendy style. Love her "average" take on fashion because it's so wearable and fun!

My prize was from Jennie Claire. Her work is so dainty and pretty and classic. I picked out these necklaces and can see me wearing them with everything this summer. I love the vintage style that's simple and classic!

I'm going to wear this with plain tank top and shorts. Classic everyday look!

I need a navy and white striped boat neck tee for this one!

I will wear this with work clothes. I'm such a gold kind of girl!
